The Indian celebration of Raksha Bandham is coming up fast! Now is the time to celebrate your sister and you don’t even have to be Indian to do it.
Here’s how it works: A sister ties a red string around the wrist of her brother and prays for him to live a long life full of health, wealth, and prosperity. In return, her brother promises to protect her for the rest of his life. Blood relations are not required to participate, feel free to pick your own sibling!
Once the blessings have been made, it’s time to feast! The traditional food of Rakhi is a ladu – a sweet dumpling that sisters feed to their brothers until they can’t eat another bite. To learn more about this very popular Indian festival, click here.
